WebSep 7, 2024 · Running 15w-40 pressures are normal when cold. As soon as I hit 180-190, oil pressure drops to 15PSI Idle, and maximum 39PSI around 2000RPM. Won’t budge 1 PSI even past 2000RPM. Took out front cover relief and swapped it, no difference. Blocked off Amsoil By-pass, gained 2PSI. By-passed front external air-oil cooler.

For the valve to get stuck you need a bit of a perfect storm, a good sized flake, the valve in bypass on a cold start (motor reved) and the valve trying to close just as the chip goes by. The older and thicker your oil the more the bypass valve is open during warmup.
